The course provides an overview of the main theoretical debates, controversies and research trends in the anthropology of migration and exile, with a specific focus on the impact of socio-economic, environmental and political contexts, as well as discourses and representations, on migration strategies, living conditions, imaginaries and migration trajectories (resources, difficulties, constraints).
Drawing on case studies and a review of the relevant literature, the course will examine, in particular, the impact of immigration restrictions and asylum legislation on new migration strategies, societal restructuring, and the dynamics of resistance and resilience.
