The training is set under the academic responsibility of one or more "training directors", members of the faculty 'Faculté d'ingénierie biologique, agronomique et environnementale'. On the training place itself, the guidance of the student is ensured by a "training instructor". This training has to be realized outside the normal periods of education and before the beginning of the third study year. Its length is one month. The training is realized in a small to medium enterprise relevant to the sector of agronomy and / or biologic engineering (agriculture, forestry, food sciences, bio-industry, environment '); in the private or public sector, in Belgium or abroad. In the course of the first study year (BIR 11), information sessions and discussions are planned by the training directors, assisted by students from superior years, where the student receives the necessary advices in order to operate a justified choice of training place, to search the right documentation, to handle the problems on the spot ' The student also receives a "training guide" assembling the practical information concerning the training and its evaluation. This latter occurs by at least two persons.
Learning outcomes

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

1 The training constitutes an awareness (sensitization) to the technical, economical and sociological aspects encountered in the sectors of biological, agronomical and environmental engineering. It aims to develop the students' qualities of human contact, initiation, capacity of adaptation to circumstances and the sense of organization. It should stimulate the curiosity of the students concerning the teaching to come and develop the motivation for the study orientation and the profession. It can help the student to specify his / her choice for a study orientation in the future years. The training also constitutes a first learning for documentation research as well as for paper writing.

Content
All required information is compiled in the "Guide du stagiaire" booklet provided to students starting in the second year of the bachelor's program. The same information is available (upon logging in) at https://www.uclouvain.be/fr/facultes/agro/restricted/stage-bachelier
Teaching methods
Information sessions held during the second and third years of the bachelor's program, covering the internship search, the conduct of the internship, and the writing of the internship report. Training in bibliographic research is offered in the third year.
Evaluation methods
The report is evaluated according to the procedures specified in the "guide du stagiaire" booklet and during information sessions. Clearly, there is no benefit for a student who has not completed the internship to register for the "internship and report" course unit assessment; although the internship supervisor's evaluation of the intern's performance is partially taken into account, the grade awarded is based primarily on the report itself — specifically the description and analysis of the organization where the internship took place. Typical report submission dates are: for the January session: the Wednesday of the final week of classes for the June session: the Wednesday of the first week of the spring break for the August/September session: the Wednesday of the week of July 15th. These dates are updated annually based on the calendar and communicated to students each year. The use of generative AI is permitted solely as a language aid to revise or improve students' own written work. Even within this limited scope, students are encouraged to learn from the weaknesses in their writing that the AI helped to improve.
Other information
The course does not require the use of any paid materials. Any paid works that might be recommended are entirely optional.
