This course aims to put into practice the knowledge acquired across the program's various courses through two realistic and concrete organizational communication projects: one for a commercial organization and the other for a non-profit organization. Students work in groups (randomly assigned via Moodle, with different groups for Q1 and Q2) to complete these projects, guided by the professors and the course assistant. Each project includes analytical and strategic dimensions and offers hands-on experience of professional reality in the field of organizational communication. These multidisciplinary projects bridge different disciplines and fields of knowledge.
The teaching unit is divided into two distinct and complementary phases:
  • Q1: Commercial sector, under the supervision of Katia Delvaille (December 14 to 18, 2026).
  • Q2: Non-profit sector, under the supervision of Thibault Dujardin-Bazier (April 12 to April 16, 2027).
The comparison between these two sectors—including their respective logic, budget constraints, and stakeholders—forms a core learning objective of this teaching unit.
    Teaching methods
    • Course introduction and refresher sessions through lecture-style presentations with applications and examples.
    • Briefing on a real-world case study presented by a client (for-profit sector in Q1 and non-profit sector in Q2).
    • Supported group work in an intensive 5-day hackathon format.
    • Targeted thematic workshops throughout the week.
    • Team coaching by professors and the teaching assistant present all week.
    • Pitch in front of the client and a jury (for the 3 groups selected by the client).
    Evaluation methods
The assessment is based on two projects, each accounting for 50% of the final grade. In each semester, the collective group grade is based on the drafting of a communication plan (a 20-page written report + appendices). This work is evaluated on the relevance of the audit, the quality of the strategic analysis, the relevance and consistency of the creative concepts, the realism of the action plan, the budget / retro-planning, the definition of KPIs, and a reflective section on group dynamics and individual commitment.
    Structure of the communication plan:
    • Strategic audit (foundation of the strategy)
    • Complete communication plan including strategy, actions, retro-planning, budget, and KPIs
    • Reflective section featuring the individual contribution of each member, a reflection on group dynamics, challenges, and key learnings.
An additional point is awarded to groups selected to present their work before a jury that includes the client.
Please note that attendance is mandatory for both introductory sessions, both client briefings, and both Hackathon weeks. The pedagogical format of this course does not allow for make-up sessions. Pursuant to Article 72 of the General Regulations for Studies and Examinations, course instructors may request that the jury block the exam registration of any student who has not attended at least 80% of the sessions.
      Other information
      • Use of generative artificial intelligence : if generative AI is used in the drafting of communication plans, the student must systematically indicateall sections that involved its use (for example, in a footnote), specifying whether the AI was used for information research, visual production, text writing, or proofreading.
      • All practical information (dates of introductory sessions, Hackathon weeks, group compositions, briefings, and assignment submission procedures) is communicated on MoodleUCL.
      • The course is not open to exchange students who are taking courses for only one quadrimester.
