Content
This first part of the thesis is based on meetings with the thesis advisor (number to be determined with him or her) (starting in Q2).
Evaluation methods
The evaluation is conducted by each advisor based on a written assignment submitted by the student, which must follow the guidelines below.
The written assignment to be submitted to the advisor must address the following points:
A clear presentation and rigorous justification of a specific research question.
A substantial review of the current state of the art in the form of a first draft chapter that can be incorporated into the thesis.
A presentation of the methodological approach that has been tested: in other words, initial exploratory data will have been collected and analyzed, which will then be presented in the thesis and will allow for the refinement of the methodological approach and, if necessary, its reorientation. If exploratory data could not be collected for specific reasons (such as a research field study that depends on a future internship), this must be specified and justified; where appropriate, alternatives may be considered (for example, conducting an exploratory interview with a professional who can shed light on the topic under study). In all cases, the methodological framework must be specified as rigorously and precisely as possible—drawing in particular on the literature regarding data collection and analysis methods in the social sciences and, more specifically, in information and communication sciences.
