Content
The course will be divided into several modules:
  • The first module will cover fieldwork practices and the tools used to teach geography (including an introduction to ArcGIS Online and other digital resources, as well as cartographic representations and the organization of field trips).
  • The second module will address student diversity and classroom management.
During these sessions, students will be required to complete various exercises: organizing a field activity, creating assessment methods for geography learning, implementing differentiated instruction within a lesson sequence, etc.
Teaching methods
The teaching methods are those recommended for secondary education: lectures, group work, student presentations, flipped classrooms, etc.
Instruction relies on active student participation during the various classes.
Evaluation methods
Assessment is based on individual assignments and the presentation of a teaching sequence.
  • Any use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) within the scope of this course unit must comply with the *Guidelines for the responsible use of generative artificial intelligence in the Faculty of Science* (document available on Moodle or here). The use of AI must be explicitly cited in accordance with current regulations. In all cases, the student remains responsible for the content of their work, regardless of the sources used.
  • Given the teaching methods and assessment formats adopted, regular attendance at teaching activities is mandatory.
    • Absence from more than three consecutive activities or a total of five activities will be considered irregular attendance. Pursuant to Article 72 of the Examination and Study Regulations, the course instructor reserves the right to ask the examination board to deny registration for the exam associated with this course unit to any student whose attendance has not been regular.
    • Furthermore, such students will be denied access to the LGEO2350 teaching internship. Mastering the content of the sessions is an essential prerequisite for successfully conducting the teaching activities required during the internship.
Other information
