Prerequisites

Registration for the BIP, open to students in the Master’s in Translation (M1) and the Master’s in Interpreting (M1 or M2), will be based on an application (including a motivation letter in English and in the language of the home university).

Learning outcomes

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

Demonstrate an advanced command of theoretical knowledge and skills specific to translation, including technological competencies, and the ability to apply them appropriately and critically in the context of specialised translation. Identify the thematic (disciplinary) knowledge required and, where necessary, acquire it independently, and apply it effectively to carry out translation tasks to a high standard of quality. Communicate in a professional manner by drawing on expert language skills and adapting to the context and target audience; interact and collaborate respectfully and constructively with the various stakeholders involved in a given situation, using both verbal and non-verbal communication skills.

Content

This short-term, hybrid mobility activity (BIP – Blended Intensive Programme) will focus on a specialised translation project and is intended for students from different METS member universities, with a variety of working languages and English as the common language.
The aim of the BIP is to produce a set of multilingual and multimedia materials dedicated to Ravenna, the Emilia-Romagna city renowned for its dazzling mosaics.
Following three online training sessions (March 2027) addressing key topics such as transcreation, terminology, neology, accessibility (notably, but not exclusively, linguistic accessibility), and specialised translation tools, students will be tasked, during the in-person week, with translating and producing various multimedia content related to the city of Ravenna and its mosaic art.
A final online session will focus on the evaluation of the work produced and will bring the BIP to a close (April or May 2027).
