LPSP1001 Psychologie Générale: processus et théories (and in particular the sessions on sustainable development) provides an important foundation for this course.
Main themes
- Introduction to ‘environmental humanities’ and the role of humanities, and more specifically of psychological sciences, in mitigating and adapting to the ecological crisis, drawing attention to these two approaches (mitigation and adaptation).
- Cognitive biases related to the processing of information on the ecological crisis (e.g., cognitive biases in the perception, interpretation and memorisation of information related to the crisis; cognitive biases supporting moral disengagement)
- Models of behavioural change (in the areas of mobility, food consumption, etc.) and identity changes underlying or resulting from behavioural changes.
- Perception (stereotypes/prejudices) of people who convey pro-environmental messages or behaviours (e.g., veganism).
- Climate justice and social inequalities (e.g., class, ethnicity, gender, age) in exposure to climate risks and the possibility of adopting pro-environmental behaviours.
- Environmental education: addressing environmental issues with different audiences and according to different objectives.
