Content
This teaching unit focuses on learning theories, in particular (socio)constructivism and cultural-historical approaches, as well on the main theories of motivation (expectancy-value, goals, self-determination, sense of personal efficacy).
The way in which these aspects interact are explained and worked out from case studies about learning.

Teaching methods
The classroom sessions will be prepared by home readings by the students as well as by exercises proposed to continue the discussions at the end of the sessions, and which will involve the production of writings (analysis of a case, production of a learning situation vignette and its analysis) which will be evaluated in a formative way with the other students (peers) during the practical sessions.
Different pedagogical approaches will be deployed in coherence with the learning theories studied in order to ensure the understanding of the texts read through discussions on the texts, case studies and exchanges between students and lectures by the teacher.

Evaluation methods
During the course of the term, the evaluation is essentially formative (collective feedback provided to the students in relation to the readings and case studies, during the sessions and the discussion periods). Formative evaluation moments, by peers, are also provided for during practical exercices, which should prepare students for the final evaluation.
The final evaluation is based on a written exam (paper/pencil) with open questions, involving analysis of case extracts and their relation to the theories studied, as well as development questions based on learning situations. Printed core readings can be used exclusively for this open-book exam. No access is allowed to computers or any digital devices or internet, neither any documents not expressely accepted by the teachers (see Moodle list of authorized documents).
