Content
Historical perspective on abnormal psychology and psychopathology and psychiatry: critical overview of the Kraepelinian and post-Kraperelinian approaches (difference between “normality” and “abnormality, biological approach, evolution of categorical diagnostic systems, postulates of the post-Kraepelin approach). Evolution of the bio-psycho-social approach on mental disorders.
Nosography of psychopathological states: Description of nosographic systems (e.g., DSM) and their use (e.g., diagnosis, differential diagnosis, comorbidity). Critical perspective on traditional nosographic systems (dimensional approach, transdiagnostic approach, intra-diagnostic heterogeneity, sub-threshold or partial syndromes).
Psychopathological states across the lifespan: overview of the main psychopathological states, their evidence-based etiological models and treatments (e.g. symptomatology and semiology, psychological processes (including (neuro) cognitive ones), risk and maintenance factors, therapeutic diversity). The overview of psychopathological states and their treatment are based on recent scientific data.
Teaching methods
The course mainly takes the form of lectures.  Clinical illustrations are also provided.
Evaluation methods
Written exam (multiple choice questions) : forty multiple response questions (MRQs). Each question includes five propositions, two of which are correct. The answer will be considered correct and will be awarded one point, if and only if both correct propositions and only these are selected. Each question answered correctly is worth 1 point. No answer, a partial answer (i.e., the selection of only one of the two correct propositions) or an incorrect answer (i.e., the selection of at least one incorrect proposition) are worth 0 point.

Arithmetic rounding is performed when the final score is higher than 10/20 (= the pass mark, e.g. 10.5 = 11 but 10.49 = 10). Below 10/20, the final mark is rounded down to the nearest integer (e.g. 9.75 = 9/20).
