Content
- Introduction to epidemiology: history of epidemiology, definition and components
- Natural history of a disease, causality and causal reasoning
- Epidemiological observation: data sources, types of variables
- Frequency measures in epidemiology: indicators of morbidity, mortality and standardization
- Types of studies in epidemiology
- Measures of effect in epidemiology: association and impact measures
- Bias in epidemiology, including diagnostic tests and introduction to multivariable models
Teaching methods
The course will involve lectures and videos illustrated with concrete examples from the scientific literature. It will be accompanied by exercises.

Participation in the online exercises on Moodle is compulsory to validate the teaching unit. In case of non-participation in the Moodle exercises during the course, the teacher may propose to the jury to oppose the registration for the examination related to the course in accordance with article 72 of the RGEE.
