The master’s degree programme includes:
- 79 credits of compulsory courses, including core courses, the professional focus, the thesis and the long-term internship
- optional courses, with a minimum of 23 credits to be selected from the options in structures, geomechanics and hydraulics.
The company internship lasts nine weeks and is to be completed during the second semester of the first year of the master’s degree programme during May and June. This is a specific requirement for this master's programme. The schedule for courses in this semester is arranged so that all teaching is completed by the end of March. Assessments occur in April, freeing students from academic obligations in May and June to focus fully on their internship.
The thesis is typically completed during the 2nd year. Students may take required and elective courses in the 1st or 2nd year, provided that prerequisite requirements are met. This flexibility is particularly beneficial for students undertaking part of their studies abroad.
If in the course of their previous academic career, students have already taken a course that is part of the programme (required or elective) or if they have participated in an academic training activity that is approved as equivalent by the programme commission, the student may count this activity toward their graduation requirements (but only if they comply with the programme requirements). They will also verify that the minimum number of credits required for the validation of their degree and for the recognition of selected options, for their explicit mention on the diploma supplement, is achieved.
The final programme will be submitted for approval by the programme committee of the Master's in Civil Enginerring.
For a programme-type, and regardless of the focus, options/or elective courses selected, this master will carry a minimum of 120 credits divided over two annual units, corresponding to 60 credits each.
