Programme structure

The program leading to the Master's [120] degree in physics consists of :

  • a core curriculum of 10 credits ;
  • an in-depth specialisation of 30 credits, including 28 credits related to the dissertation (to be completed during the second annual block) and 2 credits in humanities ;
  • a significant opportunity to personalise your education through options and elective courses. Students may choose a maximum of two options, each worth a maximum of 30 credits and a minimum of 15 credits to appear on the diploma supplement. Students then complete their program with elective course units to total 120 credits.  

Standard programmes, based on the different areas of research in Physics at UCLouvain, are offered through five options, each comprising a range of different courses to choose from. These cover :

For a programme-type, and regardless of the focus, options/or elective courses selected, this master will carry a minimum of 120 credits divided over two annual units, corresponding to 60 credits each.
