Main project: Adequacy assessment of the belgian power system with the integration of electro-fuels Funding: SPF Economie Supervisor(s): Emmanuel De Jaeger
The main goal of the project BEST is to study the contribution of synthetic and electro-fuels to the Belgian energy system.
With the decentralization of the energy production and storage, it can be expected that future power system will consist of big producers, big consumers, and quasi-autonomous areas representing the distribution grids. These latter are named in such a way because from the transmission network point of view, they are no longer seen as passive loads, but mainly neutral and now and then pulling or injecting power.
From this, it can be stated that the contribution of synthetic and electro-fuels will be studied on a future power system composed as mentioned previously by big consumers, big producers and quasi autonomous areas representing the distribution grid.
This PhD focuses on the power electric system part and more precisely on the adequacy assessment of future power systems where electro-fuels will be integrated.
“Adequacy is a way of measuring weather a power system meets the expected supply requirements of electrical energy at a certain point in time.”
