Research institutes

Research is one of UCLouvain’s driving forces. Both basic and applied research are pursued with equal commitment across the university’s 23 research institutes. In the social sciences and humanities, science and technology, and health sciences, the institutes bring researchers together within individual disciplines or across disciplinary boundaries and develop research policies for their respective fields. These policies may be structured around specific research areas.

What is the added value of a research institute?

An organisation dedicated entirely to research offers researchers greater visibility for their research projects, facilitates understanding and communication regarding research activities, and enables the formation of interdisciplinary and complementary teams.
