The UCLouvain accommodation services offer accommodation to incoming exchange students on the Louvain-La-Neuve Campus. They are referred to as kot or kot-à-projet. There are furnished rooms with private or shared facilities.
There are also other alternatives that you can explore with private owners or real estate agencies.
If no luck with any of them, you can also check these websites and facebook groups:
- https://www.kotalouvain.be/en/ or
- https://www.student.be/en/louvain_la_neuve/student-rooms or
- https://ikot.be/en/flat-louvain-la-neuve or
- this Facebook group (everything is in French but they all speak English and most of them are searching roommates)
You also have a youth hostel on the campus called “Gîte Mozaik” or you can try to find an AirBnB.
Unfortunately the number of rooms available on campus is limited so the Accommodation Services cannot guarantee accommodation for every student, but they will do their best provided you lodge your request early (April, early May).
You first need to be nominated by your mobility coordinator and log in our Mobility-Online platform when instructed to do so. You will then receive an email with the information about the application process and about accommodation on the Louvain-La-Neuve campus.
As prompted in the first emails you'll receive from UCLouvain, make sure that you lodge a request on the accommodation services website early in the application process, preferably before mid-May to maximise your chances. Their website will also give you information about their furnishings, charges, cleaning, security deposit.
Once you have arrived, please consult the information on this website to find out which documents you'll need on the day you'll collect the keys.
Within 8 days of your arrival, if you are here for more than 1 semester, you must contact the Louvain-La-Neuve municipality administration (services des étrangers à la Commune) via email to start the residency registration process with them. Their email address is firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you are only here for one semester, you don't have to go through this process.
Please mention to them that you are registered as a UCLouvain student, that you have just arrived in Belgium and that you would like to get a residency card. They will then send you the documents you have to fill out via email and will request the following list of documents:
- Passport (non EU students) or ID card (EU students)
- Lease contract from the Accommodation services or your landlord or real estate agency
- 2 ID photos (less than 6 months old, white background, no smiling, no hiding of any of your face features)
- 10 EUR (EU students), 5 EUR (non EU documents)
- Proof of registration at UClouvain
- European health card
- Scholarship documentation
Apart from the fee, you can send it all via email.
We recommend that you put a sticker on your letter box with your full name as a police officer will need to come by your accommodation to ascertain that you provided the adminstration with the correct address.
Once this step has been completed, you will be required to make a first appointment with them, in oder to provide them with your finger prints for the ID card you will receive.
A 4-digit code associated with your ID card will be sent out to your postal address. Once you have received it, you will be asked to make one last appointment with them to pick up your card.
Their ADDRESS is:
Voie des Hennuyers, 1
1348 Louvain-La-Neuve (close to the train station, they are located on the 1st floor)
