We are delighted to have Hugo Desmet as Ambassador to guide you through the start of this academic year 2026/2027!
"Master’s student in Economics (Professional Focus), my main areas of interest are public finances, financial markets and labour economics. I also have a strong background in political science, as I completed a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) here at UCLouvain. I’d be delighted to help answering any questions you may have in your first step at ESL.
My interests outside university include going on city breaks around Europe. I’ve already visited Vienna, Budapest, London, Amsterdam, etc., and I’d love to discover many more cities.
I also currently play football at amateur level, and I am the kind of player that would rather provide an assist than score a goal.
I’ve also been lucky enough to work in a big financial institution and at an accountancy firm as part-time student jobs. But in the end, my best student job was selling ice cream during the summer, as I was allowed to try them all. ”
