Louvain-la-Neuve is a pedestrian town situated 30 kilometers South-East of Brussels in the French-speaking part of Belgium. The town is easily reached by car or train. Do not confuse Louvain-la-Neuve with Louvain/Leuven (situated in the Dutch-speaking part of Belgium).
Two airports serve the are around Louvain-la-Neuve: Brussels South Charleroi Airport (the airport is called Brussels South, but it is not located directly in Brussels. It is located in Charleroi, 60km south of Brussels and 40 km from Louvain-la-Neuve) & Brussels Airport (Zaventem) (35km from Louvain-la-Neuve).
Brussels South Charleroi Airport: flights to/from Charleroi are often cheaper (Ryanair), but public transport from Charleroi to Louvain-la-Neuve takes 2 hours (bus + train). The last bus from Charleroi airport for the train connection to Louvain-la-Neuve (LLN) leaves the airport at 9 pm on Friday. Brussels Airport (Zaventem): Public transportation (train) between Brussels Zaventem and Louvain-la-Neuve takes 1 hour and costs 13 euros. The last train to Louvain-la-Neuve is at 10:30 pm at the airport (. We advise you not to rely on the last train and instead take a cab if your flight lands later than 10 pm in Zaventem.
