Forty Years of Gendering Comparative Policy Analysis

This presentation identifies the development of Comparative Gender Policy as an area of study since the 1980s. It shows how this vital and thriving sub area of the subfield of Politics and Gender has become a permanent fixture in policy studies and how It has interfaced with the interdisciplinary field of Comparative Public Policy Analysis.

The highly active research network, Gender Equality Policy in Practice, co convened by Mazur with Isabelle Engeli will be discussed a case study of gendering policy studies.  With six edited books in which the comparative GEPP Approach is applied by over 50 policy scholars In  country based case analyses of gender equality policy implementation in five different areas of policy (equal pay, corporate board, political representation, care) and one country ( France), the network has gone far in identifying the key role of policy implementation in successful gender equality policies in western post industrial democracies.
