What are EU Missions?

EU Missions are a new way to bring concrete solutions to some of our greatest challenges. They have ambitious goals and will deliver concrete results by 2030. 

They will deliver impact by putting research and innovation into a new role, combined with new forms of governance and collaboration, as well as by engaging citizens. 

EU Missions are a novelty of the Horizon Europe research and innovation programme for the years 2021-2027. 

Incentives can be made available to support you in the preparation of your collaborative proposals. Please contact ADRE.

The 5 EU Missions

1. Adaptation to Climate Change: support at least 150 European regions and communities to become climate resilient by 2030
2. Cancer: working with Europe's Beating Cancer Plan to improve the lives of more than 3 million people by 2030 through prevention, cure and solutions to live longer and better
3. Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2030
4. 100 Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities by 2030
5. A Soil Deal for Europe: 100 living labs and lighthouses to lead the transition towards healthy soils by 2030

• User driven applications and tools for regional and local authorities, and other end users focusing on climate impacts, data and knowledge (HORIZON-MISS-2022-CLIMA-01-01)

• Unlocking of financial resources for investments into climate resilience (HORIZON-MISS-2022-CLIMA-01-02)

• Best practices on and piloting insurance solutions for climate adaptation in EU regions and communities (HORIZON-MISS-2022-CLIMA-01-03)

• Transformation of regional economic systems for climate resilience and sustainability (HORIZON-MISS-2022-CLIMA-01-04)

• Boost the sponge function of landscape as a way to improve climate-resilience to water management challenges (HORIZON-MISS-2022-CLIMA-01-05)

• Testing and demonstrating transformative solutions on climate resilience, mainstreaming nature based solutions in the systemic transformation (HORIZON-MISS-2022-CLIMA-01-06)

• Marine litter and pollution – Smart and low environmental impact fishing gears (HORIZON-MISS-2022-OCEAN-01-05)

• Mediterranean sea basin lighthouse - Actions to prevent, minimise and remediate chemical pollution (HORIZON-MISS-2022-OCEAN-01-03)

• Student and school activities for the promotion of education on ‘blue’ sustainability and the protection of marine and freshwater ecosystems (HORIZON-MISS-2022-OCEAN-01-08)

• Towards local community-driven business models: regenerative ocean farming (HORIZON-MISS-2022-OCEAN-01-10)

• Lighthouse in the Baltic and the North Sea basins – bringing sustainable algae-based products and solutions to the market (HORIZON-MISS-2022-OCEAN-01-06)
