Leon Poljanić obtained his BSc and MSc degrees in Chemistry at the University of Zagreb (Croatia), graduating cum laude. During his studies, he volunteered in the laboratory of his MSc thesis supervisor, Prof. Dominik Cinčić, where he investigated cocrystal formation of various Schiff bases and their halogen and pnicogen bonding. In 2023, he expanded his expertise in mechanochemistry and crystal engineering during an internship in the laboratory of Prof. Leyssens at UCLouvain, where he worked on a joint project with an industrial collaborator on process development of crystallization of an agrochemical compound. He began his PhD at UCLouvain in 2024, under the supervision of Prof. Leyssens, focusing on mechanochemical (de)racemization of biaryl atropisomers widely used in asymmetric synthesis. In the same year, he was awarded an FNRS FRIA scholarship. In 2025, he became a member of the Young Division of Société Royale de Chimie (SRC Jeunes) as well as a delegate in Communications Team and Networks Team within the European Young Chemists Network (EYCN). Additionally, he is managing the website content and social media of the Leyssens' research group.
