This seminar will be the occasion to introduce the audience to the transmission electron microscope (TEM), with a specific emphasis on material science applications. We will cover the basic principles of the TEM optics, review the different illumination modes and their specificities, discuss the origin of the different signals and present the different techniques which will be available in the newly purchased ThermoFisher Scientific Thalos TEM. The purpose of this seminar is to try answering all questions from the future users, and will therefore be quite informal and highly participative.
