Learning outcomes

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

Mobilize legal (especially intellectual property law) and economic (especially industrial economics) tools to offer an interdisciplinary analysis of recent developments in the digital industries.
 
Content
The unifying theme of the course is the concept of “information good”. The course offers an analysis of digital markets for products (software, database,…) and services (social networks, digital platforms,…). It consists of three parts:
A: Introduction to Intellectual property from the point of view of Law and Economics
B: Protection of software through copyright and patents, open source models
C: Internet, social networks and collaborative platforms.
For the academic year 2024-2025 the course will bre mainly focused on economic issues
Teaching methods
The course is organized around a serie of themes for whom a detailed calendar will be provided in the beginning of the semester. Teaching methods will depend on the number of students registered to the course but in all cases prior readings will be required
Evaluation methods
In 2024-2025, the evalaution will take the form of a written exam with a serie of shortt closed qiestinos and a short open question - essay.
