Learning outcomes

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

  • Acquire an approach to give advice when dispensing herbal products, based on a sound knowledge of active plant ingredients and of  their potential risks (adverse effects, interactions with drugs and food).
 
  • Integrate skills and knowledge acquired in phytotherapy, general and special pharmacology and pharmacotherapy courses
 
  •  Be able to critically analyze literature and other sources of information on these products.
 
Content
The student will realise an exhaustive bibliographical study on a topic chosen in collaboration with the teacher. This study will be based on documents given by the teacher and data base researches (Sci finder, Medline, Current contents,…). A literature review will be written with the help of the teacher.

Prerequisite : pharmacognosy, analytical chemistry and/or pharmacology Evaluation: The evaluation will be based on the quality of the written review, of its oral presentation and answers to questions.
