Prerequisites

The prerequisite(s) for this Teaching Unit (Unité d’enseignement – UE) for the programmes/courses that offer this Teaching Unit are specified at the end of this sheet.
Main themes
Building on the foundation established in Architectural Design Studio 2, the projects proposed in Architectural Design Studio 3 focus on programs primarily related to the following themes:
  • Reflection on public space, its relationship with the landscape, and the environmental context,
  • Exploration of inhabited spaces, particularly collective housing in the urban fabric,
  • Emphasis on project rationality, including constructive and technical mastery.
As part of learning architectural composition, Architectural Design Studio 3 integrates these elements into the progressive development of students’ ability to design architectural projects and to understand and apply knowledge related to materiality.
By the end of this course, students will have consolidated their understanding of the design process, preparing them to embark on the Master’s cycle.
Learning outcomes

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

  • Analyze a given situation, identify its challenges, and articulate architectural intentions by taking a clear position,
  • Compose an architectural project with coherence, sensitivity, and an understanding of the discipline’s fundamental and enduring values,
  • Communicate and represent the architectural project, translating intentions into material realization through oral argumentation, models, and drawings.
Architectural Design Studio 3 aims to achieve these general objectives in a confirmatory manner, building on the initiation and exploration stages covered in Architectural Design Studio 1 and 2. By the end of the course, students will have consolidated their understanding of the design process, equipping them to embark confidently on the Master’s cycle.
