Main themes

Based on complex clinical vignettes/simulated cases, students will develop their clinical reasoning:
  • Gathering essential information from a medical history
  • Notions of red flags: taking into account the notions of severity/severity/urgency in the choice of professional and timing
  • Refer to the most appropriate health professional
  • Analysing the information gathered and generating hypotheses (prognosis, risk factors

Learning outcomes

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

  • Describe the processes involved in integrating the information received during the history-taking and clinical examination (2.4)
  • Identify articles for the EBP analysis of a real case and justify the choice (6.3)
Integrative and reflective skills
At the end of this teaching unit, in a typical patient management situation (clinical vignettes/simulated simple or complex cases; 11.3, 11.4), using an EBP approach (1.1) in physiotherapy, the student will be able to :
  • Carry out clinical reasoning in clinical vignettes or complex simulated cases and
  • cases and justify each decision (1.2)
  • Plan the clinical examination on the basis of the history and medical records (2.3)
  • Conduct and interpret a structured clinical examination (2.3)
  • Make a clinical and functional diagnosis (2.4)
  • Identify the limits of his/her care when treating a patient (2.5)
  • Identify the signs, symptoms and risk factors requiring referral of the patient
  • (screening) (2.5)
  • Distinguish between the clinical, personal and contextual factors which may influence the
  • prognosis, specific to the pathological situation (2.6)
  • Establish and justify a prognosis on the basis of the pathology and the personal and

  • Formulate treatment goals on the basis of the prognosis and the patient's expectations (SMART) (2.7)
  • Evaluate/Adapt/Cancel an intervention (3.2)
  • Analyse the EBP aspect of a conference/congress (1.1)
  • Use articles to analyse the EBP aspect of a real case (internship) and adapt your professional
