Content
First term (BMHAN1111A): tenses (incl. irregular verbs and spelling rules), conditional sentences, passive voice, reported speech; introduction to English phonemes.

Second term (BMHAN1111B): introduction to syntax (parts of speech, phrases, clauses, functions); articulatory phonetics and phonetic transcription.
Teaching methods
- Exercises and theoretical lectures (grammar book: Foley M., Hall D., 2009. Advanced Learners’ Grammar. Longman)
- Self-study (phonetic transcription and list of irregular verbs taken from Berland-Delépine's Grammaire anglaise de l'étudiant; Ophrys, 2000)

Remote online teaching if stricter social distancing measures are required due to Covid-19.
Evaluation methods
Written examination in January (30% of the final grade) and in June (70% of the final grade). The self-study material (list of irregular verbs and transcription exercises) also counts towards 1/3 of the final grade (June exam BMHAN1111B).
