At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

The student will be able to:
  • Comprehend the main literary movements of Spanish America, identifying their defining features and their connections to the historical, social, and political contexts.
  • Develop structured, coherent, and in-depth analyses of the given texts, demonstrating critical engagement with them and their contexts.
  • Examine the cultural and historical identities reflected in Spanish American literature, exploring themes such as ‘mestizaje’, the dynamics of rural and urban spaces, dictatorial regimes, and the interplay between tradition and modernity.
 
Content
This course explores a selection of authors and texts from Spanish American literature, spanning from the late 20th century to the present. This selection will highlight both the distinctive writing styles and topics such as identity, gender, migration, and their social and political implications within this literary production.
