Content
This course presents the essential milestones in the history of French literature since 1800, combining panoramic sequences offering an overview of the literary field and its evolution, with sequences focusing on the study of specific works. Using these two scales of analysis - synthesis on the one hand, close reading on the other - will enable us to grasp in detail the singularity of two particularly rich centuries of creation.
Beyond the simple acquisition of knowledge, the course aims to critically question the way in which literary history has been written, through the study of the categories and periodizations on which it is based, as well as the grey areas and presuppositions that underlie it.

Evaluation methods
Oral exam.
For the preparation of written work or visual aids for oral presentations, any use of generative AI other than that explicitly authorized in the course instructions is prohibited and will be considered cheating under the terms of the RGEE. In the event of suspected cheating, the instructor may summon the student. In any case, the student must be able to demonstrate oral mastery of the content developed in their written work. In this case, failure in either of the two assessments is decisive (failure in the written or oral assessment results in failure of the entire assessment).
