Learning outcomes

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

Part " History of French literature ".
- master the main lines of evolution of French literature from the 9th to the 16th century;
- identify, locate and describe the major works and writers of French literature from the 9th to the 16th century
- situate the literary productions of the 9th to 16th centuries in their overall cultural and socio-political context;
- master the conceptual tools and vocabulary of literary history;
- develop a critical approach to the epistemology and methodology of the discipline (e.g. periodisation, definition of the corpus, textual state of the works, attribution disputes, etc.);

Texts" section
- translate, both literally and literally, any text from French literature from the 9th to the 16th century using the tools used since the 2nd year of the baccalauréat ;
- evaluate the respective qualities or defects of the different editions and translations available - perceive the specificity of medieval and Renaissance poetics and aesthetics.
