Learning outcomes

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

  • Situate themselves within (and in relation to) a cultural heritage by sharpening critical thinking skills,
  • Reinterpret the pursuit of the ‘good life,’ central to philosophies since antiquity, within a contemporary context,
  • Identify the vocabulary, conceptual tools, and key developments in the evolution of philosophy,
  • Understand philosophy’s fundamental contribution to the conceptualization and practice of architecture, with the aim of contributing to a more habitable world, both individually and collectively.

In line with the program’s learning outcomes (LOs), this course contributes to the development and acquisition of the following LOs:

Evaluation methods
The examination is presented in groups and defended orally in order to stimulate cooperation, emulation and the sharing of ideas.
Based on the material covered in class, the examination involves the creation of an “object” (a design) that embodies a key concept, vision or philosophical proposition on the theme of “place as an existential laboratory”, with a view to recreating it in a contemporary context.
