Main themes
This course aims to help students assert their perspective as architects, using the tools of the discipline to address two key aspects: the contexts of their projects (landscapes and buildings) and their project approaches (compositional logic and prioritization of choices).
The challenge lies in actively engaging students by deconstructing the studied contexts to uncover their fundamental qualities and leverage them as genuine project drivers. Simultaneously, the course emphasizes producing architectural work with clearly identifiable and shareable qualities.
Given the iterative nature of the design process, students are encouraged to approach the context from the viewpoint of a project author, adopting and refining this perspective through an in-depth analysis of existing conditions.
Offered every other year, this course is open to all Master’s cycle students (Master 1 and Master 2). It integrates a recurring theme in architectural practice that critically engages with the history of architecture and architectural theories.
