Main themes
This course is structured as a research seminar focused on qualitative methods for understanding lived space. The topics covered include: (1) Developing a methodological toolkit for collecting socio-spatial data; (2) Conducting content analysis of qualitative data; (3) Making socio-spatial data visible and representable; (4) Utilizing multimedia tools to support mediation, participation, and decision-making in urban production.

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

Specific Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, students will be able to:
  • Apply a systems approach to analyze the dynamics of territorial production, focusing on stakeholder networks,
  • Observe and narrate socio-spatial practices and representations across various scales,
  • Integrate top-down and bottom-up approaches to spatial analysis and design,
  • Critically question and evaluate the norms of knowledge production and the representation of socio-spatial data within the architectural discipline,
  • Develop and articulate a reflective, critical research methodology tailored to the lived experience of territory.
