This course aims to cultivate an appreciation for landscape and inspire a passion for landscape research. Landscape is approached both as a key element of architectural projects and as a methodology for project design. To this end, thematic pairings will be introduced and discussed with students, including but not limited to: Landscape e(s)t City, Landscape e(s)t Ecology, Landscape e(s)t Resource, Landscape e(s)t Energy, Landscape e(s)t Infrastructure, and Landscape e(s)t Art.

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

Specific Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, students will be able to:
  • Critically analyze landscape projects using tools from critical theory, including the examination of theoretical texts and design approaches,
  • Conduct research on landscape projects utilizing multilingual and multidisciplinary databases,
  • Identify and analyze fundamental references within the disciplinary culture of landscape studies,
  • Mobilize references that, through analogy, provide alternative interpretations of the context.
