The course introduces students to an understanding of the role that the social sciences play and can play in relation to important contemporary societal challenges. Particular attention will be paid to issues of race and racialization, gender, and socio-economic inequalities. The course sessions enable students to meet protagonists of research and social action developed in relation to these challenges, to reflect on the place social sciences can take in society.
Teaching methods
Lectures, guest lectures, question-and-answer sessions, formative quizzes.
Evaluation methods
Written exam during the last class session, with a multiple-choice question (MCQ) section, for 15 points out of 20, and an open question (5 points out of 20). More information will be provided during the course.
