Content
In-depth study of Classical Greek grammar both from a practical (translation) and linguistic (origin and evolution of language structures) perspective.
This is complemented by the acquisition of additional vocabulary and the translation of short and long texts.
Exercise hours are mainly devoted to the practice of translation from Greek into French and from French into Greek. Special sessions are provided for the revision of morphology and vocabulary.
Teaching methods
Alternating interactive class sessions and exercise sessions.
Evaluation methods
A. Regular tests during practical work sessions (20 % of the final grade). In the event of failure, the student is required to take a complementary oral examination during the September session.
B. Oral examination assessing the mastery of cursive reading (40 % of the final grade). It is divided between the January session and the June session. In case of failure in the cursive reading examination in January and/or June, the resit examination will, in all cases, be held during the September session under the same conditions.
B. Oral examination assessing the mastery of cursive reading (40 % of the final grade). It is divided between the January session and the June session. In case of failure in the cursive reading examination in January and/or June, the resit examination will, in all cases, be held during the September session under the same conditions.
C. Written examination (40 % of the final grade) assessing theoretical knowledge and practical skills (morphology, theoretical questions, translation from Greek into French and from French into Greek). It is divided between the January session and the June session. In case of failure in the written examination in January and/or June, the resit examination will, in all cases, be held during the September session under the same conditions.
Successful completion of parts B and C is essential to demonstrate the skills and knowledge defined in the learning outcomes of the teaching unit. A failing grade for Part B or C results in a failing grade for the entire unit.
