Main themes
This unit explores the main aspects of Latin teaching in secondary schools in French Community (Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles):
- The objectives of Greek teaching in every grade;
- A deep understanding of the official documents in every grade
- The critical analysis and the elaboration of teaching tools and documents, in conformity with the official recommendations in French community.
- Didactic practices and the analysis of teaching situations in Greek class, including how to deal with the main learning difficulties and the diversity of profiles
- Epistemological issues when teaching Ancient Greek
Content
This course focuses on epistemological and pedagogical aspects related to Ancient Greek class. More precisely, it aims to:
- provide a thorough understanding of the official documents and programmes in the "Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles".
- present and analyze accessible tools which helps to teach Ancient Greek (handbooks, grammars, external resources, ...).
- train the students to create pedagogical situations which correspond to the official presecriptions of the "Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles" and to the level of the pupils in secundary schools.
- prepare to teach classes, with a peculiar attention to potential learning difficulties, especially when teaching the translation process and textual commentary.
- provide a thorough understanding of the official documents and programmes in the "Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles".

Teaching methods
The teaching method is very participative: the students will be invited to create pedagogical material in a collaborative way. The course will also be based on numerous discussions and analyses based on class observations and learning situations previously experimented by the students themselves at school or during the teaching practices.
The students will also be invited to take part in other activities in order to be in close contact with the teaching field and to interrogate teaching practices, such as : colloquia, meetings with teachers, school events, etc.

Evaluation methods
The evaluation will be based on a written work and an oral presentation. This written docuement will consists in creating an original teaching sequence based on a solid argumentation with:
- a thorough analysis of the pedagogical issues, in relation with the present context (epistemological point of view)
- a selection of a passage from a Greek author, which is relevant and corresponds to the level of the pupils in secundary schools.
- the analysis of the potential difficulties during the teaching process, with propositions of pedagogical methods to solve them.
- an original explotation of the text (commentary) with a clearly defined pedagogical scenario, supported by other resources: press article, journal, iconography, video, cultural production of the Antiquity or of later periods.
- a thorough analysis of the pedagogical issues, in relation with the present context (epistemological point of view)
