Content
From the Portuguese expansion, motivated by the quest for spices, to the first real world conflict, the Seven Years War (1756-1763), the great opening up which the Middle Ages had initiated went on. Contacts were far more various than one might suppose, since trade, colonisation and slavery were combined with cultural and bacteriological exchanges which also proved remarkable.
Teaching methods
A chronological, geographical and thematic journey will be punctuated by numerous documents, often graphic, archaeological and artistic. The latter, unusual in classical training, will provide an opportunity to take a fresh look.
Evaluation methods
Oral exam (summary topic)
