The seminar is given in the form :
Participatory presentations involving an active approach on the part of the student (presentation of a research approach, illustration using concrete examples, proposals and use of appropriate methodological and theoretical aids).
The course takes a conceptual and pragmatic approach to the following themes: entering a research field, observing in the field, constructing a research question, bibliographical research, writing up observations and initial analyses.
A practical fieldwork component is central to this course.

Teaching methods
The course focuses on practical exercises, with field observations and practical sessions on soft skills such as bibliography, criticism, research questions and scientific writing.  Teaching methods are complemented by assistant support and readings.
Evaluation methods
