Co-requisites: To enroll in this Teaching Unit, the student must also be registered for LEISS2902: Introduction to Research in Education (S4)
Main themes
This Teaching Unit aims to support students in the construction and completion of their thesis. It covers theoretical, methodological, and ethical guidelines to assist them in carrying out their research.
Learning outcomes

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

  1. Present the research question and subject of their thesis;
  2. Highlight the main elements from the literature review related to their thesis;
  3. Justify the theoretical and methodological choices made in conducting their thesis;
  4. Critically relate their thesis work to educational situations and issues.
 
Content
Equip and support students in order to: 
  • Conduct a literature review 
  • Develop a research question 
  • Develop a theoretical framework
  • Develop a methodological framework
  • Collect and process data
  • Analyze and discuss the results in relation to the research topic and theoretical framework
  • Demonstrate how the research and results are useful for addressing various educational issues
Teaching methods
Alternating between:
  • Presentations and discussions of theoretical and methodological models and tools;
  • Presentations, discussions, and analyses of previously produced research materials to inspire and guide students' work.
Evaluation methods
Production of an annotated thesis plan (theoretical framework, proposed methodological design, avenues for analysis, initial bibliography).
