Content
The course aims to equip students to reflect on adult education and catechesis practices. Based on a review of the history of catechetical thought, the course will first focus on the rediscovery of adult catechumenate in the 20th century and on the questions surrounding catechesis and adult education that arose in the post-Council period. It will then present contemporary reflections on adult formation and catechesis: online formation, intergenerational catechesis, second proclamation, etc.
The course will draw on the three catechetical directories (1971, 1997, 2020) as well as more recent authors (Paul-André Giguère, Denise Bellefleur-Raymond, Henri Derroitte, Jane Regan, Denis Villepelet, Enzo Biemmi). Based on these different contributions, students will work in groups to analyze initiatives in catechesis, formation, or the catechumenate for adults.
