Content
This course combines the study of foundational sources and methods in Christian ethics with an exploration of specific issues related to political and economic concerns. Sessions will be organized around thematic areas including: just war, violence and Christian pacifism, ethics of nationalism, community belonging and Christian identity, human rights, dignity and restorative justice, work ethics, business ethics and trade. These topics will be examined through the lens of major historical debates and analysis of contemporary issues: autonomous weapons, populism, consumerism and burnout syndrome.
Teaching methods
The course is structured around a series of lectures delivered by the instructor, enriched by active discussions that form an integral part of each session. External speakers may also be invited occasionally.
Evaluation methods
Continuous assessment includes a group presentation on one of the course themes, as well as the written submission of a reasoning exercise with artificial intelligence. This exercise consists of a dialogue journal with an AI system on a course topic, where students must demonstrate critical thinking by questioning the limitations, biases and blind spots of the AI. This journal is accompanied by a brief personal reflective analysis.
The final oral examination covers one or two randomly selected questions. Candidates have 15 minutes of preparation time before a 15-minute interview.

While the language of instruction for this course is French, accommodations are available for non-native speakers. Students may pose questions, engage in consultations with the instructor, and submit their assignments in English.
