Teaching methods

The first part of the course is devoted to a theoretical presentation The lectures are supported by figures and tables to familiarize students with the theory-data links.    Students are invited to practice using online databases and wooclap exercises.  Students are thus invited to bring a laptop, connected to the UCLouvain wifi. 

Evaluation methods

The final assessment consists of a one-hour electronic exam conducted through the Wooflash platform, accessible on a personal smartphone or tablet. Students must come with a fully charged device and log in using their UCLouvain credentials. The platform is also used throughout the course for formative purposes.
Starting in 2025, students may take part in an optional activity consisting of a classroom presentation on an aspect of a health system other than that of Belgium. When deemed satisfactory by the course holder, this presentation grants a two-point “joker,” which can compensate for a partial failure and allows the final grade to be calculated out of 18 instead of 20. Registration takes place at the end of the first session, on a first-come, first-served basis, and is limited to sixteen students, on moodle.

Ces ouvrages servent de références générales pour les étudiants désireux d’approfondir le sujet.  La lecture 2 est une bonne base de départ.  La référence 9 est une lecture obligatoire. Le chapitre 14 de la lecture 5 permet aux personnes non-belges de mieux comprendre le système politique belge.  La lecture 3 illustre le fonctionnement de la décision politique en Belgique.
