Prerequisites
Students must have taken the course LALLE1202 (German objective B2) or another equivalent course corresponding to Level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). 
Main themes
The topics covered are selected in line with the learning outcomes of the programme and the communicative needs as defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) for the target level B2+.
They cover specialised communication situations relating to the fields and professions of economics / communication / social sciences and humanities / political science.

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

In accordance with the learning outcomes (LO) for the Bachelor's programmes in ESPO and the descriptors of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages for the target level (B2+), this course module contributes to the development and of the following LOs :
 
  • Listening comprehension B2+ :
    Understand standard language, or a colloquial variety, in live speech or in the media, on familiar or unfamiliar topics typically encountered in personal, social, academic or professional contexts. Only very loud background noise or visual distractions, an unsuitable speech structure, or the use of idiomatic expressions may hinder comprehension. 
     
  • Reading comprehension B2+ :
    • Can obtain information, ideas and opinions from highly specialised sources within their field. 
    • Can understand specialist articles outside their field, provided they consult a dictionary from time to time to check their understanding of the terminology.
 
  • Oral production B2+ :
    • Methodically develop a presentation or description, highlighting key points and relevant details. 
    • Use the language fluently, accurately and effectively on a wide range of general, academic, professional and leisure topics, clearly indicating the relationships between ideas. Can communicate spontaneously with good grammatical control without giving the impression of having to restrict what he/she wishes to say, and with a degree of formality appropriate to the circumstance. 
       
  • Written production B2+ :
    • Can produce an essay or report that develops an argument in a methodical manner, appropriately highlighting key points and relevant details to support it. 
    • Can write formal correspondence, such as enquiries, requests, applications and complaints, using appropriate language, structures and conventions.  
 
  • Language proficiency: B2+ :
    • Can understand and use general technical terms in their field when discussing them with other specialists. 
    • Has a good command of grammar. Occasional slips, non-systematic errors and minor syntactic mistakes may still occur, but these are rare and can often be corrected retrospectively.
