Main themes
This teaching unit will address different themes, both written and oral, such as:
- current political, economic, social and cultural events of the countries studied;
- contemporary history and political organisation of the countries studied;
- implicit cultural, historical or political references present in the texts to be translated or speeches to be interpreted;
- specific features of Russian that are useful for a translator/interpreter working into French.

Teaching methods
In-class course unit.
This course unit has an interactive format:
- some topics are presented in form of lectures, some other are presented by students on the basis of audiovisual and written materials;
- discussion and analysis of (extracts of) documents presenting problems for comprehension and intercultural transfer.
The interactive format requires that students come prepared to classes, present required topics and take an active part in exercises and discussions.
