Learning outcomes

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

Specific learning outcomes of the course
  • work with basic functions and make use of their algebraic and graphical representations;
  • calculate and interpret limits, derivatives, antiderivatives and integrals;
  • use differential calculus to study the variations of a function, determine its extrema and solve simple optimisation problems;
  • perform vector calculations in R² and R³, and apply them to basic problems in geometry;
  • recognise and solve basic first-order differential equations and linear equations with constant coefficients of orders one and two;
  • express a simple problem in mathematical terms, choose an appropriate method of solution and interpret the result obtained;
  • check the consistency of a result and present a solution in a structured and rigorous manner;
  • apply the mathematical tools covered in the course to simple applications, particularly in the fields of biology, chemistry, geography and veterinary medicine.
