At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

  • LO4. Communicate and collaborate in French and two foreign languages, both orally and in writing, while adapting to the audience and context to integrate into an international environment.
    • LO4.2. For 2 foreign languages (English and Dutch, German, or Spanish):
      • Communicate orally and in writing in a clear, coherent, well-argued, and fluent manner on general topics or subjects related to the field of study.Identify differences and similarities between the target culture (associated with the language) and the culture of origin.
      • Use appropriate strategies to establish contact with speakers of the target culture.

Listening Comprehension (general) – A1 
  • recognize concrete information about a familiar and everyday topic, provided the speech is slow and the information is clear. 
  • understand short and very simple questions and statements, provided they are spoken clearly and slowly, illustrated with gestures or images that facilitate understanding, and possibly repeated. 
  • recognize numbers, prices, dates, and days of the week, provided they are spoken clearly and slowly in a clearly defined, everyday, and familiar context. 
 
Reading Comprehension (general) – A1 
  • understand very short and very simple texts, sentence by sentence, identifying names, familiar words, and very basic expressions, and rereading as often as necessary. 
  • recognize familiar words and signs accompanied by images, such as, for example, a fast-food menu illustrated with photos or a picture book using familiar vocabulary. 
 
Spoken Production (general) – A1
  • produce short sentences to talk about oneself or others, and give simple personal information (e.g., name, address, family situation, nationality). 
 
Spoken Interaction (general) – A1
  • interact in a simple way, but communication depends entirely on repetition at a slower pace, reformulation, and corrections.
  • answer and ask simple questions, respond to simple statements, and make statements in the area of immediate needs or very familiar topics. 
 
Written Production (general) – A1 
  • produce simple isolated phrases and sentences. 
 
General Linguistic Competence – A1 
  • use basic sentence patterns and communicate using memorized expressions, groups of a few words/signs, and set phrases about oneself, other people, what they do, places, possessions, etc. 
Has a limited repertoire of short memorized expressions covering basic survival needs in predictable situations; frequent breakdowns and misunderstandings occur in unpredictable situations.
