Main themes
The course starts with a general introduction to pychology and to its various fields of research and application (health, work, education etc). The following topic are then covered: levels of consciousness (including sleep and levels of alertness), cognitive processes (attention, perception, learning, memory, language, thinking and reasining), affective processes (motivation, stress and emotion), interpersonal and social relations, psychological disorders and the various treatments of psychological disorders. For each topic, the course will provide the knowledge base on which the rest of the psychology, speech therapy and educational sciences programs can build on. Teachers will illustrate theories and processes with examples showing how they shed light on dailly life issues and/or societal challenges and how they can be used to improve psychological interventions.
Learning outcomes

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

1 At the end of the course, the student will master the key concepts and theories in Psychology, and most particularly the major cognitive, affective and social processes, that explain human behavior.
