Introduction

This master's programme trains engineers capable of applying their skills in analysis, modelling, design and creativity to tackle future technological challenges in the scientific and technical fields related to biomedical engineering, within a rapidly evolving European and global context.

Upon completing your master’s degree, you will have gained foundational knowledge across all areas of biomedical engineering (bioinstrumentation, biomaterials, imaging and medical physics, mathematical modelling, artificial organs and rehabilitation, bioinformatics and biomechanics) and advanced training in one or more specialisations.

A series of video profiles of young biomedical engineers can be found on the “job description” page of the faculty.

Your profile

You:

  • have developed a strong interest in the biomedical field and its technological products (as a result of your undergraduate studies);
  • are looking for targeted training to meet current scientific and technological challenges, as well as the national and international job market;
  • want to play a role in development, production or management in the healthcare sector.

Your programme

This master’s degree offers you:

  • an understanding of major scientific and industrial issues in the fields of biomedical engineering applications;
  • classes that combine theory and practice to develop advanced professional skills;
  • the choice of one of more majors in specific areas of biomedical engineering;
  • the opportunity to complete an internship in a hospital, industry or research centre;
  • the possibility of completing part of your master’s degree abroad (in Europe or elsewhere) with the option in some cases to obtain a "dual master’s degree" (a degree jointly awarded by UCLouvain and the other institution where you have studied).
