Fibers at the heart of research and industry
Thanks to the support of the Plan de Relance – "Energy Transition" programme – cofunded by the European Union and the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, the MOCA analytical platform is equipping itself with the Fibertherm from Gerhardt, a high-performance fiber analyzer for measuring NDF, ADF, ADL1, and crude fiber, allowing for the estimation of hemicellulose, cellulose, and lignin content.
Essential for assessing the nutritional value of food, this tool also paves the way for new fundamental and applied research. Several partnerships are already underway, including projects on biomass characterization and valorization for bioenergy (with Prof. Patrick Gerin at ELIM-GEBI) and the characterization of tree leaf and litter composition (with Prof. Quentin Ponette at ELIE-Forest Sciences).
The acquisition of this analyzer marks another step forward in expanding the MOCA platform's services to both academic and industrial research sectors!
