PhD admission is determined by an academic process designed to assess whether an applicant is eligible to commence a PhD. PhD programme admission applications are assessed by the CDD, which grants authorisation for UCLouvain enrolment. Subject to the conditions set out in the PhD Regulations – particularly in relation to obtaining a residence permit for international students or applying for certain scholarships – it is possible to apply for PhD programme provisional admission. The application is submitted via the same platform as that used for admissions.
Alongside the PhD admission application, a UCLouvain PhD enrolment application must be completed. These two applications (for admission and for enrolment) are initiated simultaneously via the integrated PhD platform within the OSIS application, which can be accessed directly from the UCLouvain enrolment page.

How to compile PhD admission/enrolment applications
• State the name(s) of your supervisor(s).
• Submit a research proposal (provisional title, statement of objectives, innovation compared to the state of the art, work plan, and list of the human, material and financial resources to be deployed).
• Form a Supervisory Committee comprising the supervisor(s) and at least two other members at least one of whom does not belong to the same research team as the supervisor(s).
• Complete and sign this declaration to confirm your agreement with the PhD rules set out in the special provisions of the Science and Technology Sector’s fixed-term contracts, and upload it to your admission file.
• Submit copies of all university/higher education diplomas.
• Submit copies of all academic transcripts for all years of university/higher education.
=>The application must be signed electronically by the supervisor(s), all Supervisory Committee members, and the applicant.
Please note that university enrolment is mandatory prior to undertaking any activity on its premises, and must be completed as soon as PhD studies commence.
